Hi! I’m Kayly. Welcome to the Bloom From Scratch blog!
I’m so glad you’re here! I am a wife and mom of two sweet boys. I enjoy cooking healthy meals for my family from scratch with whole foods and preferably from the garden.
In recent years I have fallen in love with simple and more natural living. Four years ago, my husband Alec and I started our first garden. It was small and honestly not super successful. But the taste of that first itty-bitty wonky carrot sparked in me a love for natural living and I never looked back.
A year later we built our own chicken coop and added 6 chickens to our little backyard garden. We also grew spinach, tomatoes, green beans, snap peas, and jalapenos! Someday we would love to expand our garden with a bit of land and add goats, ducks, and a milk cow to our homestead. Our boys frequently request horses…we shall see.
A simple life has always been a goal, but once I finally started implementing a more minimal and natural lifestyle it truly has made all the difference! Our home and life as a family are so much more satisfying and more stress-free.
Attaining a simple and natural life kind of becomes addicting once you get started. The more I get rid of and the more areas in my home I organize the more it spurs me on to continue a simple life.
I still have a lot of work to do and the learning never stops. I am constantly amazed at the things one can learn about homesteading and natural living. For me, the learning is just part of the fun! It gets me excited to try new things and learn new skills.
I’m so excited to share here on Bloom From Scratch our family’s favorite from-scratch recipes, garden tips, and all the DIY’s along the way. Thanks so much for stopping by Bloom From Scratch.
A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:
As a little girl I couldn’t wait to be a wife and mama.
I was born and raised in Arkansas and I don’t think I will ever leave.
My husband and I got married in 2011 and we have two boys ages 4 (almost 5) and 6. Our boys are exactly 18 months apart, almost to the day.
We now have 9 chickens, 2 cats, 1 dog, a honeybee hive, and a beta fish. (our little homestead is growing lol)
We have supported our family with our Etsy shop VanderMiles Studio for 3 years now! Check it out here.
